Life on the island

I've been reading random articles lately and I've stumbled across one about the Mediterranean diet. Lots of fresh olive oil, legumes, fruits & vegetables, fish... Basically all I've been eating since I've moved back to Cyprus from the UK. According to that article, hundreds of scientists have found that people who follow this diet have a higher life expectancy than any other person. I ponder about this statistic a lot. I am sure diet plays a big role. But since I moved back home my entire way of living changed. I am not rushing to go anywhere. I spend my days relaxing at the beach. I am always surrounded by groups of people, and not a day passes by where I don't show love to animals, cats, dogs, you name it. We have big dinners and having coffee is basically a 4-hour social gathering. Local is still very much alive here, in fact every few days a truck of a local farmer wakes everyone up, announcing that he is selling his freshly cut watermelons. There are a lot of rituals, festivals, and people laughing until midnight. I think diet plays a big role in the life expectancy statistic. But life here plays even a bigger one...
